Itasca,
Illinois (June, 2006) — With the completion of a
two-year term by outgoing Chairman Ty Hopkins, Associated
Risk Managers (ARM) has elected Larry Johnson its new Chairman,
effective May 2006. Johnson will continue ARM's momentum
as the industry's leading independent agency network, with
plans to develop an ARM-first culture. "Every ARM
agent should challenge and hold accountable their State
Executives to be creative, aggressive, and build value," he
says.
Currently Principal and Vice President of Universal
Insurance Agency, Johnson's focus is on sales and management,
which lends to his strengths as a leader for ARM. Since
his company joined ARM of Oklahoma in 1988, Johnson has
seen first-hand the growth of the ARM network, adding value
particularly in the last few years. "State
executives are continually working to identify new markets and opportunities" he
explains. As a result, member agents can write new accounts and provide better
quality products to existing clients.
Besides succeeding at his own agency, Johnson is accomplished
as a long-time, active ARM member. Having served in several
ARM leadership roles, he understands ARM operations and
how value is distributed among members. In the early 1990s,
he served as treasurer and president for ARM of Oklahoma
and later held the same offices for ARM of Mid America.
In 1995, he became a member of the National Board and has
since held all executive committee positions. |

Now
as Johnson spearheads the ARM effort, he hopes to raise
member agency confidence and encourage ongoing open dialog. "I
envision a sense of shared responsibility," he says, "which
will help ARM's growth and success. Every ARM agent should
be comfortable in asking, why can't ARM do that?" Johnson
is confident that the combined talents of the new 2006-2007
Board of Directors offer promising prospects for building
ARM, including these members:
