The
Grand Hyatt on Union Square in beautiful downtown San Francisco,
California, provided the backdrop for this year's ARM National
Conference. The hotel was within steps of Chinatown and
a short cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf. Attendees
this year totaled 170, including 130 agents and their guests.
For those who were not able to make it to San Francisco,
following are conference highlights:
- This year's theme, Connecting Resources, indeed held
true, as member agents networked with speakers, presenters,
sponsors and other attendees to learn about and discuss
new ideas, products and services.
- The 2006 Conference included a Trade Fair, which was
newly added this year. Nineteen different vendors participated
in this inaugural Trade Fair. Based upon initial feedback
from both attendees and vendors, Trade Fairs will likely
become a permanent fixture at future conferences as a
valuable source of information and a relaxed atmosphere
to connect with others.
- This year's conference saw a changing of the guard
in ARM's Executive Committee as Ty Hopkins stepped down
as Chairman of ARM, and turned over the reigns to Larry
Johnson. We all thank Ty for the wonderful job he did
as Chairman of ARM during the past two years, and we
welcome Larry in his new role. More on Ty and Larry can
be found on page 7 of this newsletter.
