New Director ARM Board
The ARM Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Roberts. He is the newest director representing Region 7 and fills the post recently vacated by Kevin Veleke. Brian will also begin his third term as ARM of Washington president this fall.
Brian decided to embark on an insurance career 20 years
ago somewhat by accident. He graduated from college with
a degree in finance with the intention of becoming a stockbroker
or banker. Instead, he opted for a job with Allstate Insurance
in Seattle. A few years later, he returned to his hometown,
Yakima, Washington, to begin work in an independent agency,
Argus Insurance. Brian still serves as chief operating
officer in the agency focusing on human resource issues,
sales management and company relationships.
In the early 1990s, Argus joined ARM of Washington primarily
for the networking potential and for shared insurance market
opportunities. The agency's reasons for joining have definitely
materialized, as Brian can offer many testimonials to the
value of ARM membership.

In
a recent Argus networking situation, two new sales agents
on the 38-member Argus team expressed an interest in learning
about insuring banks and credit unions. Brian
immediately thought of Leon Blanchette (ARM of Illinois)
and his wealth of expertise in this area and set up a conference
call to enlighten his team. With the intense focus and
individual attention, Brian felt the agents gained more
from that call than they would from any seminar on the
topic. "Leon was a tremendous source for getting our team
up to speed in this area," Brian says.
Brian sees his role on the Board initially
to learn as much as he can about the ARM organization and
what opportunities on which Washington can capitalize.
"Ultimately, I hope to participate in committees that can
help ARM Partners improve themselves and become more of
a value to the agents who are involved," Brian says. In
fact, Argus just signed up with AgentSecure to begin using
the service and sharing the experience with others.
As president of ARM Washington, he was
learning some of the national issues. Brian looks forward
to his new role as Board member where he'll be involved
in the entire process. "I think you always learn from other
people and I take every opportunity I can. I like to do
it," he says.
